The Stars on Baikal international music festival in Irkutsk will take place from 4 to 13 September. On September 8 Alexander Buzlov performs with Daniil Austrich and the David Oistrakh Quartet at the Irkutsk Regional Philharmonic Hall. The concert preogramme includes sextets by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Arnold Schoenberg.
The Stars on Baikal festival is founded to preserve and enhance the musical audience area as well as to support joint performances of the artists of the Irkutsk Musical Theatre, Philharmonic orchestras and local music schools. It has been held since 2004 and every year the virtuoso Russian pianist Denis Matsuev returns to his native city as the artistic director of the festival.
“The principal idea of the Stars on Baikal assumes that it is the festival of well-loved music”, says Denis Matsuev, “Our friends who are all outstanding musicians come and play music that they admire so they present themselves, their mood and repertoire preferences. Every year they come to us — world-class stars and young musicians who have already become famous abroad but are not well known to the Irkutsk audience’
On this September the number of talented musicians come together again to present diverse programmes, including jazz and classical music
