The Sinfonia Rotterdam under the baton of Conrad van Alhen has successfully finished the Chinese tour. The  orchestra performed compositions by Joseph Haydn in the series of concerts in Changsha, Qingdao, Harbin and Beijing including events at the National Centre for the Performing Arts and the Dutch Embassy. The concerts programmes were highlighted by Haydn’s Symphony No. 45 in F-sharp minor (Farewell Symphony) as well as Concerto for flute and oboe and Divertimento in G major.

After the concert at the NCPA Beijing famous Chinese music critic Wang Jiyan wrote in his review: “For me, Haydn was the best Haydn tonight! Even better than the Haydn we heard from the Berlin Philharmonic last year. Furthermore the Dutch musicians have convinced me that without period instruments Haydn can also be performed brilliantly and perfectly!”
